Fully funded programme launches for budding Gaelic entrepreneurs: Tòisich

Tòisich – The Gaelic Entrepreneur Programme – has launched today, offering a fully funded opportunity to help Gaelic speakers across Scotland develop business ideas, explore entrepreneurship and build connections with business leaders.

Delivered by Elevator in partnership with Sabhal Mòr Ostaig– the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture- and supported through the Ecosystem Fund, Tòisich is designed for Gaelic speakers at all stages of their entrepreneurial journey.

Tòisich is open to Gaelic speakers from across Scotland, including Sabhal Mòr Ostaig students and graduates and members of the wider Gaelic community. Participants do not need to have an established business or a fully developed idea.

The programme begins with an Ideation Session on Wednesday 23 September, from 2–3.30pm at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

Dr Gillian Munro Sabhal Mòr Ostaig Principal said:

“Gaelic is a living language with a vital role to play in Scotland’s economic and cultural future.

“Tòisich is about giving Gaelic speakers the confidence, connections and practical support to turn their ideas into opportunities.
We want to encourage people who are curious about entrepreneurship to come along to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on Wednesday 23 September, to explore what might be possible and to connect with others who can help them take that next step.”
Rachel Ross, Elevator’s CEO, added:
“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Sabhal Mòr Ostaig to combine their deep connection to the Gaelic language and culture with Elevator’s experience of supporting entrepreneurs. Together, through Tòisich, we have a real opportunity to inspire new ideas, widen access to entrepreneurship and help build a strong and connected community of Gaelic founders across Scotland.”
Following the Ideation Session in September, those wishing to develop an emerging idea further can apply for the opportunity to take part in the Tòisich Pre-Start Accelerator, combining in-person and online workshops, mentoring, networking and expert guidance. The Accelerator will begin in November and culminate in February 2027.
Applications for Tòisich are now open, and places are limited. Participation is fully funded.
