Recruitment can be a daunting process for small companies so Business Gateway Tayside has recruited a Human Resources expert to help local entrepreneurs become employers.
Specialist adviser Leigh Hunt, has joined the local Business Gateway team in order to help new and existing businesses understand what is needed in the early stages of taking on staff.
This new advisory service will work as a complementary addition to the relationships that already exist with Business Gateway, and legal and human resources service providers.
Leigh, who has a wealth of professional HR experience in the private sector, will assist businesses throughout the early stages of the employment process, covering a range of topics including: employment contracts, legislation and identifying the right people.
Leigh Hunt, HR adviser, Business Gateway said:
“The prospect of employment legislation, red tape, identifying and recruiting the right person and employment costs, are all very real concerns for small businesses that have little or no experience of taking on staff. My aim is to give business owners greater confidence and increased knowledge about the recruitment process which will ultimately lead to them creating local jobs and reaching their growth potential. I’m delighted to be joining the Business Gateway team and helping local businesses understand employment issues.”
Leigh will be offering one-to-one advice and delivering workshops to local businesses throughout the Tayside area. Leigh will also be hosting an event at Business Gateway Dundee on Monday, 24th February from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. This workshop will cover an employer’s HMRC and Payroll obligations, types of contracts, general employment rights and how to attract potential staff.
Andrew Burnett, Operations Director, Business Gateway added:
“There’s a plethora of information out there to help businesses understand employment issues, but the problem is that this in itself can be confusing to navigate. Our new HR adviser has been appointed to help businesses with this, by providing an integrated package of information, advice and practical support so they can become confident and competent employers.”
Business Gateway provides practical help, advice and support for new and growing businesses.
