TAY CITIES DIGITAL SKILLS PROJECT & ELEVATOR EVENT AT UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE
An opportunity for aspiring business leaders to gain valuable insights from one of Scotland’s top entrepreneurs will be held in Dundee.
Finding a Way: A Masterclass on Entrepreneurship with Cally Russell takes place on Wednesday, October 30, at the University of Dundee, where the founder of retail app Mallzee and co-founder of the sustainable clothing brand, This is Unfolded, will share his insights and strategies for business success.
The event, which is free to attend, is expected to attract a wide range of participants, including business owners, entrepreneurs and those eager to explore new ways of growing and scaling their ventures.
The masterclass will provide actionable advice on how to succeed in today’s challenging business environment and offer attendees the chance to network with like-minded professionals.
The Centre for Entrepreneurship event is part of Empower Digital, a new programme funded by the Tay Cities Region Deal and delivered by entrepreneurial organisation Elevator, that started in early September.
Roz Taylor, Operations Director at Elevator, said: “We live in a digital age where failing to embrace the latest technologies, tools and platforms could leave businesses and individuals at a disadvantage.
“Cally Russell will provide invaluable insights into the challenges of entrepreneurship, while highlighting how embracing modern business strategies can offer a significant advantage in today’s competitive landscape.
“A lack of digital skills can be a real barrier to growth, and here at Elevator we want to do all we can to enhance the skills of those in the Tay Cities Region Deal area.”
Those taking part in the full programme are receiving hands-on training in social media marketing, e-commerce, design and video tools, web development, data analytics, AI, cybersecurity and much more.
Sessions, both on-site and virtual, are being held over 12 weeks, led by industry experts and are being attended by small business owners, self-employed professionals, employees, students and underrepresented groups looking to enhance their digital capabilities. The in-person sessions are being held at the Centre For Entrepreneurship in Dundee.
The Empower Digital programme is funded by the Digital Skills Project through the Tay Cities Regional Deal.
Launched in December 2022 with over £1.5 million in funding, the Tay Cities Digital Skills Project supports digital skills development across Angus, Dundee, North East Fife, and Perth & Kinross. Its focus is on addressing regional digital skills gaps, promoting data-driven innovation, and creating opportunities in various sectors, including the Digital and Creative Industries.
The programme is being delivered by Elevator, which engages with partners, founders and business alumni to grow entrepreneurial spirit where people are inspired to transform their futures. It works across Scotland to help facilitate the start-up, acceleration and scale up of new and existing businesses through its unique range of programmes.
The Tay Cities Region Deal is a partnership between local, Scottish and UK governments and the private, academic and voluntary sectors, and seeks to create a smarter and fairer Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perth & Kinross.
The Cally Russell event (1pm to 3pm) is open to anyone living in the Tay Cities Region Deal area regardless of whether they are taking part in Empower Digital or not.
