ELEVATOR AWARDS FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

Congratulations to the 27 Finalists of the Elevator Awards 2017 from all of Team Elevator!

Twenty-seven finalists in one of the North-east’s highest profile business awards - the Elevator Awards 2017 – were announced today (Monday, March 27).

Applications were received from entrepreneurs and businesses across Aberdeen and Grampian for the 10 award categories, which commend business excellence, entrepreneurial behaviour and outstanding community contributions made by top businesses in Aberdeen City and Shire.

Several categories, most notably Most Promising New Business, Emerging Entrepreneur, The Innovation Award and Spirit of Enterprise, have seen a significant increase in the number of applicants this year.  Tables for the event have also sold in record time, with more than half already booked

The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony, which will be held at the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel on Thursday, June 29, 2017, and will be hosted by charismatic and well-known writer, TV Personality and former MP, Gyles Brandreth.

Gary McEwan Elevator Website2Elevator Chief Executive Professor Gary McEwan said that judging this year’s applications had been ‘extremely tough’ given the number of high calibre entries.

We have received a great show of applications this year, especially encouraging in the current climate,” he said.

We have had 11 applications for the Spirit of Enterprise Award, which is quite exceptional given that it celebrates the achievements of successful business owners who have overcome significant obstacles, and more than 30 applications for the Most Promising New Business (looking at the success of businesses under a year old). The event sold out more than a month in advance last year and it’s likely to do so earlier in 2017

It was a very difficult task to choose just 27 finalists out of what was a very competitive field, and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to submit an application as we really do appreciate how busy they all are.”

Royal Bank of Scotland is the principal partner and sponsor of the awards, and Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council are event partners.

"Every year it is a reminder of the crucial work and importance businesses in the North-east play in the success and prosperity of the Scottish economy. This year we've been delighted with the quality and standard of entries which has made judging such a difficult process. We wish every Finalist the greatest success this year."
